SS: And the highlight?
+C: I think the final liturgy in Chania Cathedral when the Ecumenical
Observers were invited to be present – on the front row before the Iconastasis.
In the diptychs as I have noted al the Orthodox Churches were prayed for by
name of their head, including Russia, Georgia, Bulgaria and Antioch. That
spirit of intra-Orthodox ecumenism came from the Ecumenical Patriarch
himself. His spirit imbued the Council, for which all the ‘ecumenical’ churches
are profoundly grateful, not least this Anglican bishop representing the wider
Orthodox, Anglican and Protestant churches in the Conference of European
Churches.
